Removing window glass tint is a job that should be done carefully. Otherwise it can leave scratches on the glass. It is always best to leave the job to a skilled professional. But if you are interested you can even try it yourself. One must take extreme care while doing the job so as to get it done perfectly. So, attempt to remove window tints only when you have enough of time to spend on it without any interruptions.

Peeling away the tint is not too easy as it is bonded to the glass with a strong adhesive. If not peeled away properly, it can leave behind the adhesive and make your glass sticky. Most often, the tint is comprised of two layers. So when you peel away, there are chances that the upper layer stays glued to the glass while the lower one comes out.

Before removing the tint, clean your glass properly with a glass cleaner. Use heat gun over the tint. As the tint gets heated up, slowly peel it away. Do not be in hurry. Once the peeling is over, clean the glass with a glass cleaner again.

Another method to remove window tint is the sun and ammonia way. You must do this on a very sunny day. First protect your car interiors and systems with a hard covering material like tarp. Then wear a mask and spray ammonia all over the tint. Trap this onto the film using a plastic wrap. Now let the window be exposed to good sunlight for some time. Slowly the window and plastic wrap gets heated up and the film will start peeling. Ammonia will speed up the peeling process. Carefully peel away the adhering film with a razor blade and wipe off the particles with a glass cleaner. In this method, you can alternatively use a steamer or hair dryer also.

Steam a corner of the film properly so that the film starts to peel. Gently start peeling the film and steaming the surrounding areas. If you have somebody to help, one person can do the peeling while the other does the steaming.
Whichever method you follow, it is always required to clean the glass before and after the peeling process. When using razor blades, be careful not to harm yourself and the glass. Attempt to remove the tint only when you have lots of time, as patience is the key to this work.
